I wish I had a good excuse for not posting anything - no rogue news, or something of the like. Unfortunately that isn't the case. The new talent calculator was released with some major rogue overhauling (good stuff so far), Daxxarri posted some good information about upcoming shiv changes, and some damn gnome dragged me into some meme thing.
The reality is that I've had to take on a lot of additional duties at work which has been quite draining, limiting my twittering, theorycrafting, and even gameplay. Fortunately I've still been able to raid and have been able to keep on track with full Dragon Soul clears each week, but just haven't had much time to sit and write as much as I would like.
I'll be getting to all of this soonish... I promise.
Quite a bit of news this week... namely, after fully clearing Dragon Soul since its launch, I FINALLY have The Sleeper and The Dreamer. Other than that, I must apologize for not actually GENERATING content, just regurgitating that of others that I found interesting for you to read. It is still a bit of the busy season for me, and lately it has been get up in the morning, go to work, get home from work just in time for raid, go to bed, rinse and repeat.
Something else I have to mention... I really think it is a bad plan for Blizzard to cancel Blizzcon this year. Well, the reality is that they didn't cancel it, they never scheduled it in the first place. But we all got used to it happening every year and many were looking forward to attending it again this fall. But why do I think it is a bad idea? Because they will have launched at least two new products and need to capitalize on the hype. They also need to be ready to apologize for the pandas: "Hey, we're sorry. It was a bad joke, Ghostcrawler took too much LSD and we all just went along with it. We're already hard at work on the next expansion, 'Clouds of Misguided Ideas.' Please forgive us and come back to play?" But in all seriousness, I am looking forward to seeing what Mists of Pandaria have in store for us, and hope to all that is holy that they fix the rogue talent tree before launch. Maybe instead of Blizzcon we can stage an #OccupyBlizzard camp on their lawn and hold our own impromptu "Dev Q&A" sessions by ambushing them 60 Minutes style. Or if its the developers who approved the rogue talent tree, just ambush them.
Anyhow, on to the wrapup:
Yes, I know... I haven't been too visible lately. Work has been keeping me so busy this past week that I haven't even been able to keep up with all the Twittering. But this next week looks like it is going to slow down a bit so I should be back to normal soon. Well... my rendition of "normal" that is.
One thing I do want to comment on before jumping into the Weekly Wrapup (and yea, I changed the name) - the world first legendary daggers. So it seems as though some enterprising rogue decided to hop servers to be able to clear Dragon Soul multiple times in a week to be able to finish off the quest faster. It was also suggested that his whole raid team did the same thing.
Do I think this is gaming the system? Yes, I do believe this is gaming the system. Do I think that this is "cheating?" No, as much as people cry out, I do not believe this is cheating. I think that Blizzard implemented a system that allows this, and it is well within their ability to prevent this if they wanted to. It is a cheesy move, no doubt, but just because I think something is cheesy to do, doesn't make it cheating.
Although I am still annoyed that I am about two boss kills away from being able to get the second phase daggers. But again... enough QQ... on to the Weekly Wrapup.
I seemed to get positive response from last weeks "Weekly WoW Roundup" so I guess it is going to be something I keep doing. There was quite a bit this week, and several "controversial" topics... especially from them damn gnomes.
A personal update, even having cleared Dragon Soul every damn week, because I'm in a 10M raiding guild, I still haven't graduated to The Sleeper and The Dreamer yet and it is getting pretty irritating. I'm at 272/333 so I need to average 7.625 gems each to be able to finish that phase next raid week... it doesn't look good. But enough QQ, on to the Weekly WoW Roundup:
So, patch day has come and gone, and so has the new content. While I am glad for something different to do outside of Firelands, Dragon Soul was a bit of a let down. Sure, there were new and interesting mechanics, but there was no real difficulty. My guild went 7/8 the first night and only stopped there because some raid members couldn't stay any later. The second night we finished off Madness and now all sport the "Destroyer's End" title. We thought that the raids would be tuned harder for the release, since they seemed so easy on the PTR, but instead of making them harder, I think they made them even easier. I know that Blizzard is trying to be all inclusive, but isn't that what the LFR is for? Making things easier so everyone can do it that way, instead of taking away the challenge from those that like it? I'm hoping that the heroic modes offer a lot more challenge.
Note, all these reviews will be presented from a Combat Rogue in a 10m raid perspective:
